Sixteen-year-old Evie’s job is bagging and tagging paranormals. Possessing the strange ability to see through their glamours, she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency. But when someone–or something–starts taking out the vamps, werewolves, and other odd beasties she’s worked hard to help become productive members of society, she’s got to figure it out before they all disappear and the world becomes utterly normal.
Normal is so overrated (Source:Goodreads).
I won Paranormalcy from the wonderful Nicole at WORD for Teens. Once I finished jumping up and down and fist pumping, I read it cover to cover. This isn’t a book you’ll be wanting to put down guys, it is pretty flippin’ awesome.
Evie is definitely the newest addition to my favorite characters list. She was hilarious, tough and smart…but she was also very teenagery and cynical. Her overall personality was very balanced, and besides the whole part where she might be just a little paranormal, she feels like a real person while you read.
I laughed at her when she enthusiastically talked about her pink and sparkly weapons, when she thought that seeing a school locker might be something of a holy experience, and when she bonded with a rude vampire over a shared soap opera addiction. I nodded enthusiastically in agreement with her when she referred to Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid as being a total hottie. I got chills with her when she finally held hands with the love interest.
When I really love a book, one of my favorite things to do is share quotes from it that really jump out at me. By the time I’d read the first few chapters, I already had tons of things I would have loved to share…I realized then that I had a problem. And really, if I wanted to share my favorite parts…it would end up being the majority of the book.
I don’t really want to say a whole lot more since this book doesn’t come out until September. Don’t wanna spoil anything for anybody! Just make sure and pick up a copy as soon as you can, I promise you’ll love it!
Kiersten White is pretty bleeping awesome.
