Bookish Movies I’m Excited About

The Host

Whether or not you’re a fan of Twilight, I personally think The Host is better written and just an overall better story. I loved the plot and the characters and cannot wait to see the movie! If you haven’t read the book yet – you have plenty of time! The movie isn’t set for release until March 29, 2013. So far, I think the only person cast for certain is the female MC, Melanie Stryder:

The Hunger Games

Tons of hype out there for this one already. I’m happy with the cast, just can’t wait to see the movie in March 2012. Even though I am not a fan of how the trilogy ended, I know this is going to be an incredible movie!

(I deleted the motion poster because the sound was annoying me, but check it out here)

Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series is absolutely hilarious – and I am seriously jazzed to see how it translates to the big screen…looks like it is set to be released in January 2012. I am a huge Katherine Heigl fan, so I absolutely love that she was cast! I’m also really happy with the choices for Morelli and Ranger:

So, these are the three movies based on books that I cannot wait to see! What others are you looking forward to?

I’m reservedly excited about both The Host and The Hunger Games. So much can go wrong in film adaptations but I think the producers may get these two right because they’re so popular, and the fact that Stephenie Meyer will be so heavily involved with the filming of The Host.

I never read The Host because when it came out, so many critiques said it wasn’t any good. Granted, that was way before I started blogging, so might need to look this one up & see what others thought. I DO like Melanie Stryder. I can’t remember what I saw her in,but remember thinking she was really good.

Omigosh we can barely contain ourselves about The Host!! Hopefully the movie will take off, b/c the book is amazing, and then maybe that will push Stephenie to finish the series!!

And The Hunger Games? YEEEAHHH BABY. I mean, if that’s how much they put into the POSTER, we can only imagine how amazing the movies are gonna be.

@Julie – I believe Melanie Stryder is the character from the book. The actress is Saorise Ronan and she’s been in Atonement, The Lovely Bones and Hanna.

I HAD to stop after reading your post! I LOVED The Host!!! I agree it is much better written. I try to get other people to read it and tell them how great it is, but then they see 619 pages and pass. Glad to know I’m not alone.
