The Host Casting News

You guys, I love The Host by Stephenie Meyer a lot. I think the writing, plot and characterization are leagues above the level of Twilight (even though I didn’t hate Twilight either)…so if the fact that the same person wrote both things is holding you back from picking up The Host, don’t let it!

I have been really excited about the possibility of a movie based on the book for ages – and now it is finally progressing! The three main characters have been cast and I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with it even though none of them remotely resemble the way I have always pictured the characters.

What do you think about them?

  • Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder
  • Max Irons as Jared Howe
  • Jake Abel as Ian O’Shea

I recently read and reviewed You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning – it is easily one of my favorite books of the year. I also read and loved Sarra Manning’s other adult title. She has a new book coming out (in the UK) in early 2012, Nine Uses for an Ex-Boyfriend. She recently released the cover and synopsis:

Hope Delafield hasn’t always had an easy life.

She has red hair and a temper to match, as her mother is constantly reminding her. She can’t wear heels, is terrified of heights and being a primary school teacher isn’t exactly the job she dreamed of doing, especially when her class are stuck on the two times table.

At least Hope has Jack, and Jack is the God of boyfriends. He’s sweet, kind, funny, has a killer smile, a cool job on a fashion magazine and he’s pretty (but in a manly way). Hope knew that Jack was The One ever since their first kiss after the Youth Club Disco and thirteen years later, they’re still totally in love. Totally. They’re even officially pre-engaged. And then Hope catches Jack kissing her best friend Susie…

Does true love forgive and forget? Or does it get mad… and get even?

Kristi at The Story Siren is yet again hosting the Debut Author Challenge in 2012. She has made a lot of changes, and I’m excited to see how different things will be next year! There will be ARC Tours and different rules – as well as mini-challenges (one of which I will be hosting!). If you haven’t signed up yet, head over to The Story Siren and check out all the information she has posted.

I really liked The Host too. It’s definitely a better written book that Twilight (altho I did also like that series) but I honestly think the movie will suck… Casting imo is kind of irrelevant. How are you going to make a movie out of a book where like 60% of the big important stuff happens in Wanda’s head?! Seriously… I think it’s going to be cheezy & lame. But then again, I just kinda hate all book to movie adaptations so I won’t see it. BUT still… How are they going to do that!?!?!

THE HOST! I’ve been waiting for some movie news on this book. I do see Ashley’s point on all the stuff going on in Wanda’s head BUT I can’t wait to see how they try 😉 Thanks for the heads up.
