Blogoversary Guest Post: Liz of Consumed by Books
My last blogoversary guest poster is Liz of Consumed by Books. As she mentions, we started our blogs at almost the exact same time. She is right when she says I technically copied her – I had been thinking about blogging for quite awhile and when she mentioned on Twitter that she was setting one up I decided it would be great to start with her so that I’d have someone else new to figure things out with…and it was! So, keep reading and check out the rest of what Liz has to say!………………
Hey guys! I’m happy to celebrate Allison’s blogoversary by guest posting for her today. We both started our blogs in the early summer of 2010. I started mine first, so Allison technically copied me, and I’m glad that she did! I always have fun visiting and reading The Allure of Books. I didn’t just start blogging without any kind of social networking experience, though.
Many of you have probably heard of the website GoodReads. It allows readers to keep track of books that they have read, are currently reading or would like to read. When I first joined in May of 2007, it was because of an e-mail invitation from my brother’s then girlfriend. I thought, “Hey, cool, a website where I can keep track of books.” I started off just writing a couple of sentences about the books I read and idly marking what books I could think of as “to-read.” As I remembered I’d add books I had read. I wasn’t a particularly involved member, but now I had a way to remember what books I’d read, and it stayed this way for about two years. Gradually new people would add me and I’d think, “Huh, someone else is curious about what my opinions are. That’s kind of cool.”
